Glenda is a happy, bright, affectionate and active girl. Glenda came to us at only only 8 years old, and we cannot, for the life of us, understand why she is still here. She is starting to show her age just a little, but still has her beautiful Tri-coloring. Shhhhh, we haven't told her that she is starting to show a little gray. She is our 'Nurse' dog. When we get in a new senior that might be having some issues getting settled, we put them in with Glenda and she helps them get acclimated. Glenda gets along with everyone, she is just a lover. She is in perfect health as she likes to exercise. Glenda is also in good body weight because she probably watches what she eats and that might be the reason she is stunning! Her inner beauty gleams and it shows outside, She is a doll, isn't she? Glenda would love a large fenced yard where she can run and play with some fur-siblings or human siblings. Sorry, no electric fences. Sweet Chewie came to us from an owner who just didn't seem to have time to care for her. She was found out in the road several times, so she needs someone who will take her into their home and love her like she deserves. This little love bug came to us heartworm positive, but has made it through her treatment, and is doing well!! She is active and wants to be your center of attention. She would be very happy to have a fenced yard to run and play, as she likes to be outside. A doggie door would be the ultimate in cool for her. She is shorter than she looks in the photo and has a little longer body than one would expect - maybe could be explained as a beagle/doxie mix look. She LOVES attention. She is very active (which is why the photos look like they do - she doesn't stand still much!) This girl needs someone to give her lots of lovin' and she will make a great companion! She made it through her heartworm treatment with flying colors, and has LOTS of good years left to be someone's best friend!! UPDATE: Cinnamon was adopted, but through no fault of her own, was returned. At her new home, she became cat savvy, and pretty much ignores them now! Cinnamon loves most anyone who will show her some affection, and will quickly 'lean in' to show her appreciation. She craves attention, likes to run and play with other dogs, has mat a cat or two, and a few children. She did well with all of the above, though the children clearly had been taught how to meet a strange dog for the first time, and the cat was pretty laid back and did not run from her. if a cat runs, it will get a VERY big, up close and personal, WOOF! This girl is STRONG, but ... (Read More)does pretty well on a leash, especially after you get away from the house. She would definitely benefit from someone who will spend some time with some basic training. You are never too old to learn. She loves to go for a ride and will definitely show her excitement if she thinks you are going to take her, or thinks you should! If you reach for her leash (or she thinks you are), she is ready to go! She is smart and knows how to 'sit at the table' before receiving her dinner. Unfortunately, her desire to be 'right next to her person' is greater than her desire to learn to 'go lay down'. Cinnamon has a prescription for Proin. She would not be described as incontinent, but does seem to have a tiny leak occasionally. She regularly goes outside to potty, but if she has a long nap, she can sometimes (not always) drip just a little. She doesn't have any issues when on her prescription. A quiet, more laid back environment would be more suitable for this sweet girl. In the evening, you might find her sprawled out on the sofa next to you, or at your feet, but either way, you can bet she will be near you. She is loving and loyal, and will bond very quickly to the one who is just right for her! She is highly food motivated and a treat for her would be to lick some yogurt from the spoon . . . okay, or to lick anything from a spoon, or your hand, or her plate! Cindy is an 18 year old Jack Russell. She is mostly blind and a tad deaf, but gets around very well. There is absolutely nothing wrong with her lungs! When she is inside and wants to go out, she will definitely let you know. Same thing when she is out and wants to come in - no question about that! She sleeps a lot, but that comes with age. Being retired, she feels that extra nap time is the best way to go. She loves to lay underneath ANYTHING. Cindy has a good appetite, is a little arthritic, but is on a medication to take care of that issue. Our 20 year old Schipperke mix, finally agreed to let us take him to the groomer, and doesn't he look awesome!! You go Skipper! One would never guess this guy is 20 years old. He jumps and runs like a pup sewing his oats. His family could not take him on their overseas move, so they asked us to watch over him and find him the perfect family who just could not resist his boyish charms. Skipper is happy here with us, but more than anything, he would love his very own home. She is blind, but gets around as well as the sighted dogs (can go out on her own and come back in on her own, in fact, she gets insulted if you try to help her get around). This is one of our newer guys, Nicky! He comes to us from the Fluvanna SPCA and was previously named Nova. Nova didn't work for us, so we gave him something with a little more pep! He isn't the most photogenic guy around, but he has the biggest heart we have seen in a long time. Nicky is still a bit shy and mostly looks up at us as if wondering . . . Well Hello, Dolly! Our Dolly is a dog to die for. She is mostly blind, but seems to learn her way and get along just fine. Dolly is a kind, loving soul who needs someone who is willing to care for her and love her as we do. You see, Dolly is diabetic. It's really not a big deal to give her twice day injections. Otherwise, she is in good health and looking for a family. Dolly was severely emaciated when she was found, but with good medical care, and the care of her foster mom, Dolly put on weight and is now waiting to find the family she has always deserved. Hi, I'm Boomer!! I was skinny as a rail when I first came to Peaceful Passings', but look at me now! I'm a happy, healthy guy who just loves my new friend Barney, the small Beagle guy that shares my space. Barney's an old guy like me, but boy are we enjoying our senior years. I'm approximately 10 years old, but don't write me off just yet. I've got a lot of life and love to share with the world. I had 'happy tails' when I first came to the rescue. What is that, you ask? Well, I am such an excitable and happy guy and wagged my super long tail all the time. Unfortunately, that super long tail knocked into about everything and injured it ... (Read More)repeatedly. After a while, it was so painful that it had to be removed. So now, I have a docked tail and am much happier - no injuries or pain anymore! I'm an ex-hunting dog (I'm told maybe a Treeing Walker Coonhound mix, but that's just a guess for now), and have the tattooed ears to prove it. I didn't really want to hunt, or maybe I got too old, but whatever it was, they didn't want me anymore. I've got just a touch of arthritis, but that's not a big deal because I am on medications and feel great. What is my best quality? I am love personified. I have a happy personality all my own, but I'm just like you in one very specific way - I just want someone to love me, someone I can call my very own !
